peripheral minimal is proud to present the new 12inch by the french electronic pioneer, philippe laurent, entitled, phoenix. this will be philippes second release on peripheral minimal after the infectious synthetic classic 12inch, mithra. phoenix is a three track ep featuring two brand new tracks on the a-side, phoenix (featuring philippe s trademark robotic vocals), and, agapao. meanwhile over on the b-side, we have the 13-minute electronic opus and highly representative of his early work, exposition 4, a never before released track from philippes extensive archive, and recorded in 1982. the e.p. is representative of philippe s latest forays into contemporary synth music, but still with a retro futurist edge and influenced partly by german pioneers kraftwerk/late 70s kosmische and au courant electro/synthwave acts, fitting into the current enthusiasm for early 80s synth pop and minimal wave. the ep is presented on white vinyl and limited to 300 copies. mastering by martin bowes @ the cage.

in 2016. i rented out a small piano studio in east london for nearly the whole year and set out to write an introspective, trendless, and mostly beatless album. inspired by albums from this mortal coil and scott walker, who also sought freedom to work outside of the expectations of their previous work, i limited the instrumentation to mostly an acoustic piano and effects, which left space to expose a lot of emotional vulnerabilities about myself and people close to me. writing lullabies about being a mother in a dystopian world, with pensive words about swimming against the current as a female artist, i felt free enough to tell untold truths that i’ve never felt comfortable talking about within music. free, liberated, empowered. naked.

thomas leer is an innovative electronic musician from port glasgow, scotland. he began singing for a local band at age 13, and was writing his own music by 18. by 1977, he had moved to london, where he fronted pressure, a clash­-esque punk group with fellow experimental scottish musician robert rental. after hearing kraftwerk, leer became interested in synthesizers – not long after, he was exploring the experimental techniques of eno, zappa, beefheart, faust, and can. in 1978, thomas released his first single, private plane / international , on his own oblique records that we reissued in 2015. 1979 is a 14-song collection spread across two pieces of vinyl clocking in at 70 minutes. leer says, 1979 was a great year for making music.

each copy includes a double sides 11x11” insert with never before seen photos and liner notes. all songs mastered fully analogue from the original tapes at bicycle systems, r&#299,ga, by ingus baus&#311,enieks, 2016.

paul hester created his cult moon music label in 1997 as a portal for his own productions and sounds. the label was short-lived, with only 3 releases in it s catalogue, all produced by hester himself. those few releases on moon are now highly sought after among house and techno aficionados who are forever seeking that deeper groove. the interesting part of this story, beyond the amazing music that was released, is that there are many other tracks that never saw the light of the day, thus leaving the full moon story untold. the electric wig ep was the first release on the label and is here in fully remastered reissue form, with all racks lovingly transferred from paul hester s private, personal dat stash. classic, deep uk techno sounds from the pre-millenium era, re-presented for the first time for 2017 s dancefloors. across these 2 tracks and 2 lock grooves we are treated to a sound that is timeless and will undoubtedly gain paul hester new fans while reminding those of us who were there in the late 90 s about his subtle and uniquely fresh production style.

“a safe place to be naked” is s. fidelity’s debut album, which will be released on may 5th via jakarta records. it features 12 tracks, capturing the producer’s quest for a fresh sound, which he elaborated over the last two years, locked in his tiny basement studio in berlin. evolving from there the he has also released an ep with feelin music in 2014, and “sidekicks”, a joint project with long-term friend and collaborator bluestaeb in 2016. by working with artists like tru thoughts singer harleighblu and label mate juju rogers as well as fellow producers bluestaeb and shuffle jack, his lp “a safe place to be naked” plays with sampled vocals and even his own voice – often distorted, but still present. s. fidelity was born in st. gallen, switzerland, mainly works in berlin and currently resides in london. as a producer he developed a unique and always driving sound, combining sampling techniques and classic beat making with unusual drum patterns, modern synth and atmospheric sound effects. s. fidelity’s laid-back eclecticism is marked by a deep knowledge and fascination for pop culture as a whole. his idea of fresh hiphop references to various genres, including jazz, ambient, disco and electronica. the lp contains an a2 poster & download code.

joe morgans stop them is killer late 70s militant roots, self-produced and originally released on his own jomor music house label (under the name billy joe morgan) in nyc. awesome vocal, majestic horns, heavy rhythm, a shining example of the brilliance of late 70s roots reggae and how perfectly suited the style was for the extended mix 12inch single discomix format. we ve added something special for this reissue (now on joe s main imprint fish tea). not only do we have the original 12inch replicated in full, but also an awesome and previously unreleased late 80s digital recut of the tune entitled warrior. unfortunately a dub version for this cut was never mixed, but we are grateful to have uncovered another gem from mr. morgan, one of the crucially under recorded and underrated artists of his time.

his time the tramp crew serve you with a delicious double sider by wayne mcghie. -the love you save- was never released when recorded in 1972 and this long-lost track is now available here for the first time on 45! in 1972, wayne signed with record producer greg hambleton and, with former members of the hitchhikers, recorded a couple of tracks including -love is the answer- and -the love you save- at toronto sound studios. -love is the answer- was released later that year as a 45rpm single with the instrumental version on the flip, however -the love you save- was never relaesed. now, more than four decades later, the music of wayne mcghie has been re-discovered and his songs and musicianship are finally receiving the attention so long deserved.

in 1990 joe lewis teamed up with singer darryl goodlett to form the shortlived survival. now on clone classic cuts their midnight dancin finally gets a full release with all the versions. 2 of which were never released at the time. to top it of simply yours by dj joe lewis also from the original midnight dancin ep. remastered by alden tyrell.

one might assume that Æolus carved a new path for electronic music in hawaii, but the islands never quite fully embraced the burgeoning new age scene that Æolus found himself a part of during the 1980s and the early 1990s.
few artists in hawaii have produced a body of work, let alone embarked on a musical journey, such as the one that Æolus has created.
